I was adjusting myself on my yoga mat facing the TV and simultaneously checking on my son sleeping in the bouncer. As I was tying my hair up, S entered home with a package that was expected to arrive two days earlier. I received a package from Oakland-based Tres Agaves, makers of Tres Agaves Tequila, Cocktail-Ready Agave Nectar and Margarita Mix about two months ago to try their product.
We woke up next day to a boiling hot day. The temperature here is rising as high as 100s and this is the perfect time to enjoy some great cocktails. My husband was more than excited to play around with the package. The margarita mix were lying in my counter top untouched. It needs to be tasted today announced my husband. Since my son's birth, priorities have changed at home. The weekends got much quieter. Slowly as my little cub is getting older, things are getting back to what it used to be. It's been really long since S enjoyed an evening with friends and drinks. He invited few of his not-so-teetotaler friends for a BBQ dinner.
When the gang arrived, I gave them the list of summer cocktails and S got ready to stir and mix the margarita. The party got started and all were ready to polish off the entire bottle. First S had everyone try a shot, then he served them an agave cocktail, then as a margarita and asked them their opinions. They tried Paloma and Classic Tequila sunrise and they loved it. Everyone unanimously said that the Tres Agave Tequila Blanco had a slight salty finish and that would make it a great margarita. The agave nectar cocktail (a mixture made with some crushed ice,1oz agave nectar, 1oz lime juice and 2oz tequila) was a huge hit too. The agave nectar was a sweet syrup which dissolved really easily in water and made the margarita taste so fresh and good.
Verdict: They make an excellent margarita. Each bottle costs around $24.99-$29.99 which makes it affordable for everyone.
